What to Eat When You’re Tired of Deciding
Decision fatigue is a “state of mental overload that can impede a person’s ability to continue making decisions.” The more decisions you have to make, the more difficult it becomes and the more fatigued you will feel. This can be exhausting and overwhelming, enhancing symptoms of anxiety and depression. If you are already feeling fatigued from the choices you are faced with each day, deciding what to eat can be difficult. Here are some quick and easy meal starters that you can turn back to:
Frozen meals
A quick starter to pop in the microwave when you are tired of cooking; add some fruit/veggies, hummus, etc to make it a more complete meal!
Minute rice
Pair minute rice (quick and easy) with your favorite protein source (tofu, chicken, turkey, etc.), veggies, and a healthy fat (avocado/dressing)!
Loaded oatmeal
Oatmeal is severely underrated…adding granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, nut butter, nuts/seeds, honey, and/or protein powder can make it more satiating. The warmth and sweetness can be very comforting when you are feeling anxiety or depression, and it can be thrown together super quickly!
Burrito
A tortilla with ground turkey, beans, sour cream, cheese, guac, spinach, salsa…you name it! If you are feeling fancy, throw it on a pan to brown the outside of the tortilla. You can also make a quick quesadilla this way (see our Instagram reels for a version of this @radiantnutritionrd)
Soup
Warm soup with freshly toasted bread is a quick way to calm the nervous system and can include a nice punch of veggies, carbs, and protein!
