6 Ways to Stay Motivated
Motivation can often be hard to come by in the colder months and especially during the holiday season. Motivation to exercise, nourish yourself, go to work, run errands, etc. can feel like such a chore!
That said, we all have those days where getting out of bed feels like a task in and of itself. If you are struggling with motivation, here are a few ways to get things done:
Two words: Meal. Prep. If you know that you are going to have a busy week ahead or are feeling overwhelmed at the thought of cooking something every day, make a few meals ahead of time (it does not have to be something for every meal or every day) so that you know you can rest for a bit when needed. Staying nourished is a huge part of having motivation to do other tasks. Key: Do this when you have the most energy. When is that for you?
Let yourself eat a snack even if dinner is only an hour away! The right snack can give you the much-needed energy you need between meals.
Invite a friend along to help you do the thing you are struggling to do. Whether that be a yoga class, a walk through the park, or to a coffee shop to do some work, you can help each other get some work done and stay accountable.
Change your scenery! It’s no secret that monotony can kill motivation and creativity. If you feel like you have hit a wall, try going to a different place to work/exercise. You’d be surprised how much a new place can lift you out of a rut.
Add a new jam, dressing, or sauce to a food you frequently eat! If you are tired of eating the same foods over and over, this idea can perk up your desire and amplify the pleasure you experience from the food.
Create a fun playlist for your commute! I also love a good podcast. If you have something to look forward to each morning, it can help you get on the road to getting some work done in a more positive and productive way.
Most of us know that this time of year can be challenging for a variety of different reasons. Just the sun setting later and the weather getting colder is not an easy fate to face. Trying one of the suggestions above, and leaning on each other a little, may be the answer we need to bring joy and motivation into our lives!
